The Dyson DC17, though an upright, is a little heavier than some of the previous Dyson models, weighing in at just a touch more than 27 pounds. However, between the motorized brush and the Ball, it maneuvers fairly well for a vacuum of its size and the weight of the machine is evenly distributed across its wheels. The placement of the wheels themselves, behind the motor, gives it the appearance of being lighter than it is.
Owners of the DC17 upright vacuum stated that, though the model was not cheap, it outperformed other manufacturers’ models, like Kirby, Electrolux, Hoover, and even Miele, several of which were notably more expensive (the Rainbow being one of them). Further, most were impressed with its filtering system, saying it actually leaves the air smeller notably better. It comes with a powerhead attachment and several other tools to make jobs easier.

Dyson is quick to announce that the DC16 makes use of a lithium-ion battery, much like what is found in electric or hybrid cars. What this means is that, when you vacuum, it doesn’t start out strong and then give up power as you work. The energy output is very consistent and it recharges quickly when plugged back in. Some owners comment that the battery lasts only six minutes, making it impossible to replace their regular vacuum with this unit, but that, one must remember, wasn’t the point of this handheld model. The model is meant for “in between” jobs, to pick up things in places that are more conveniently reached with a handheld device.

Like the DC15, the Dyson DC16 has a clear canister, enabling the user to see when it needs to be emptied. It will even empty itself out with the push of a button. Convenience doesn’t come cheaply, however, and the Dyson DC16 is priced at about $170.

The premiere feature that makes the Dyson DC15 bagless vacuum so ideal for households with pets is its ability to pick up everything from every kind of surface without losing suction.

Normally, most vacuums are okay on straight surfaces, but leave behind traces of dirt in corners or along edges. This upright gets the air spinning so quickly, dirt and debris is literally forced up into the vacuum. This airflow, amazingly enough, is accomplished without the use of belts (one more thing you won’t need to replace).

Most owners, though first shocked at the sticker price, often around $600 are impressed with its features and its ability to clean an area that previously didn’t even look dirty. Its various powered brushes make it possible to also pick up hair from upholstery and stairs. Owners have also noted that it is quieter than many of the Dyson predecessors. Additionally, its canister is clear, so it’s easy to gage whether it needs to be emptied.

Though not inexpensive, owners have called it a “lifelong” vacuum as the Dyson DC15 comes equipped to handle just about anything, requires no replacement bags, filters, or belts and can stand up to just about anything the owner throws in its path.

James Dyson revolutionized the vacuum cleaner with his Cyclonic technology and bagless vacuum cleaner features. The Dyson DC15 is no exception. Often called The Ball, the Dyson DC15, like its predecessors used Root Cyclone Technology to spin the dust and dirt out of the air. Unlike some of the other Dyson uprights, the Dyson DC15 has many features that make it a top product for anyone with animals. This article will give the reader an overview of the Dyson DC15 and the features that make it ideal for pet owners.

This model has been called by owners “The Mother of All Suckers.” There are essentially two DC15 models, The Ball All Floors and the Ball cyclone Animal which was designed specifically to handle households with pets. As with all Dyson vacuums, the ball feature allows the user to pivot around corners, rather than pushing and pulling or moving things around to get the best angle cleaning. Additionally, the bagless upright, just as its Dyson predecessors does not clog, thanks to the patented cyclonic technology. Though the DC15 sports a HEPA filter like the other Dyson models, it will never require replacement filters. One simply washes the filters out.

Interestingly, Dyson provides a little electronic reminder to keep your filter in optimal condition. You simply go to the website, after cleaning your filter, and click a little button. Once you register, you will receive an email periodically, reminding you to clean the filter. Of course, if you use your vacuum more frequently, you may have to wash your filter more frequently.

The best vacuum cleaner is a matter of personal choice but when you are looking for a new vacuum cleaner, you want the best. Many people assume that manufacturers of popular brands, such as Dyson, make the best vacuum cleaners. However, when the biggest brand names produce a wide range of vacuum cleaners at all price points, which is the best one for you?
Here are a few tips to help you decide who makes the best vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning Power
Everyone wants to a vacuum cleaner that cleans well. This is decided by the amps rating. Although actual cleaning power also depends upon how much time you spend going over especially dirty areas, in general, the higher the amp rating, the more suction, or cleaning power, a vacuum has. Dyson upright vacuum cleaners, such the DC07, all have 12 amps, which results in very powerful suction and superb cleaning.

Bag less or Not
During the cleaning process, dust and dirt is sucked into a bag, for those models which have them. Bags allow for superb cleaning power immediately after a new bag has been installed, but the cleaning power decreases as the bag fills. And as not every vacuum cleaner has an obvious indicator showing when the bag needs replacing, your vacuum cleaner may be operating on less than optimal performance without you knowing. Not the best result for a vacuum cleaner!
In contrast the bag less cyclonic system, such as that used by all Dyson vacuum cleaners, means that there is no loss of suction. The dirt is simply sucked into a canister. This is wonderful because you have the added reassurance of seeing the canister fill with the dust and dirt as it comes out of your carpets.
Furthermore, if you choose the bag less option, you do not have the extra expense of buying vacuum bags. If you don’t think this is a significant point, consider this. Dyson was not the first manufacturer to discover the bag less technology! However Hoover admitted that they did not pursuer the technology because they were making too much money from selling bags!

Filter Type
All vacuum cleaners are fitted with filters these days. However, the best vacuum cleaners are fitted with filters that improve the air quality do that the air expelled is actually purer than the air sucked in! The best system is probably the High Efficiency Particle Air (HPEA) filter used in upright vacuum cleaners, such as the Dyson DC07. The downside of the HPEA is that the resultant vacuum may be a little bit more expensive than lesser models using a low-end filter.
Dyson vacuum cleaners have been endorsed by the British Allergy Association. These vacuum cleaners significantly lower the concentration of allergens, such as pollen and microscopic particles as they clean. This makes Dyson vacuum cleaners the best on the market.
